Our doctors are general practitioners and are able diagnose and treat all routine medical conditions that your companion might face. Our doctors do, however, have many special interests including:
- Internal Medicine
Comprehensive physical examinations are performed at your companion’s annual visit to our Athens veterinary clinic. During your visit, our doctors will examine each of your companion’s body systems and discuss any abnormal physical examination findings with you. In addition, our doctors will discuss any needed care or follow-up recommendations with you. Our doctors may also provide more extensive ophthalmologic, dermatologic, neurological and orthopedic examinations when needed.
Annual or semi-annual wellness testing (intestinal parasite and heartworm examinations) and vaccinations will be discussed with you in a consultation session with one of our doctors.
Our doctors and staff will also review the most effective ways to protect your companion against internal and external parasites (intestinal worms, heartworms, fleas and ticks).
We offer a full compliment of in-house diagnostics as well as outside laboratory services for both well and sick companions:
- Complete blood count examinations
- Serum chemistry analysis
- Serum electrolyte analysis
- Thyroid testing
- Internal parasite (fecal) examinations using centrifugation
- Heartworm examinations
- Cytological examinations
- Digital Radiography (X-Rays)
- Additional testing available through outside laboratories
We offer routine surgical procedures for your companion including:
- Spay (Ovariohysterectomy)
- Neuter (Orchiectomy)
- Dental Prophylaxis (ultrasonic scaling and polishing)
- Soft Tissue Surgeries (including mass removals and abdominal surgeries)
We maintain a dedicated surgical suite with the highest regard for maintenance of an aseptic environment. Routine surgical procedures (spay, neuter, dental prophylaxis) are performed with the highest standard of care for your companion animal and include the following items:
- Pre-Surgical Examination
- Pre-Anesthetic Lab Work
- IV Catheterization and Fluid Therapy
- Anesthesia Monitoring
- Post-operative Pain Medication
